From deep within the urban forest of Pittsburgh's East End, the Squirrel Hillbillies often emerge to share their eclectic mix of acoustic roots music, spanning folk, country and blues. Rabidly social and clawingly curious, they relish opportunities to interact with diverse audiences. They perform regularly at festivals and folk clubs as well as non-traditional venues across the US and the UK. Through a collaborative, nonlinear songwriting process, duo partners Jenny Wolsk and Gary Crouth draw from personal experiences, third-hand stories, and vivid imaginations to craft songs that are unpredictable and quirky yet widely accessible. Their CDs have gotten radio play on stations around the world.

Ky Hote Saturday, September 22, 7:30pm
Ky Hote, a singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas has roots in NYC and on the road. While other artists sing Woody Guthrie songs and write about riding the rails, Ky Hote has been there, done that. San Francisco to Maine and from Florida to Alaska, Ky has hitchhiked, rode freight trains, buses, cars and kept his guitar by his side all the way. His vast catalog of original songs reflect his travels and the people he met. He is a humorist and a visionary whose work often comments on relationships and the world we share.
John Dennie, Pops,  is a gifted storyteller who has a knack for developing plot lines in the space of four minutes. One part grit and one part silk, his songs always seem to push the right buttons, eliciting memory and emotion as only the very best music can. He has spent a lifetime stewarding America's musical roots including blues, jazz, gospel, folk, country and rock and roll. His latest studio effort represents the convergence of a wide variety of old and new influences including Neil Young, John Fulbright, Towns Van Zandt, John Hiatt and Delbert McClinton.

After too many years and careers in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Napa Valley, Robert B+ is baaack! In Austin and Houston during the early ‘80s, Robert used to play solo as Silver Battle at funky dives and fancy restaurants and with the Silver Battle band. The singer-songwriter guitarist left to pitch his indie film musical and finally did shoot it 25 years later.  After creating and producing several community theater musicals along with starting a bocce league, he recorded his own cd “zymphonix” adding all the parts on a guitar synth to the exquisite drumming of Kevin Hayes. As a founding member of Greezy Wheels, Lissa brings that original Austin roots sound. Greezy Wheels was one of the very first Austin bands to sign with a BIG LABEL (London Records), they toured, they held court at Soap Creek Saloon and the Armadillo (shoot, they opened for Bruce Springsteen on his first stop in Austin!), they appeared on Austin City Limits— they were the real deal.

The Austin Ukulele Society (AUS) is all about enjoying the ukulele and having fun with people who share our affection for this wonderful instrument. Our mission is to: Provide a supportive environment to share and learn new songs and build playing skills; Spread the word about opportunities to see and hear musicians who play or compose for the ukulele; Promote the ukulele in the “Live Music Capital of the World” through performances and education; and, of course, have fun!

Dickie Lee’s birthplace, Hobbs, New Mexico, is in a part of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico that is fertile ground for producing musicians. Several small towns and cities within a hundred miles of Hobbs are the birthplaces of many famous names in the music business, including Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Mac Davis, Gary P. Nunn, Sonny Throckmorton and the legendary Norman Petty Studio That proximity is incidental, but nonetheless, Dickie Lee’s roots are authentic.
Dickie Lee Erwin Saturday, December 1, 7:30 pm
An Austin music veteran of 30+ years, Woot settled in with an acoustic guitar when he found one of John Lennon’s acoustic guitars.  Actually, he didn’t find the guitar; it was a gift from his beautiful wife Tammy and Barbara -- best mom-in law a man could have.  And to be completely honest it isn’t technically “one of John Lennon’s guitars.”  It’s an Epiphone EJ-160 John Lennon Signature model.   A guy can dream can’t he? He is inspired by Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzey, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, James Taylor, Keb Mo, Steve Earle and obviously John Lennon. Woot will be joined by David Fore, formally of legendary bands Bubblepuppy and D-Day. David currently plays drums with the award winning band The Eggmen.
Woot Talley and David Fore Saturday, December 8, 7:30 pm
